The Need for Protecting Natural Resources
Humans use natural resources to help meet their needs of food, clothing, and shelter. Each time a resource is used, its supply is reduced. Two practices that protect natural resources are conservation and preservation. The wise and sustainable use of our natural resources is called conservation. The choice not to use our natural resources is called preservation.
Firstly, natural resources are essential for human life. At a basic level we need uncontaminated food and water supplies, shelter, clothing and good health. Resources are also required to make all the things that we use in our daily lives. Each item in our home (electricity, clothes, etc.) was made from a material that came from a natural resource.
Secondly, most natural resources cannot be easily reproduced by humans. Examples include fossil fuel and minerals. So, conserving them is important.
In addition, natural resources are necessary to meet the needs of future generations. To conserve natural resources for future generations, sustainable use of the natural environment is necessary. We need to understand that our natural resources are limited and if these resources are not protected, we will affect our children and the future generations.
In conclusion, it is important to conserve and preserve natural resources because an increasing global population needs more resources. And, humans need to continue to make and do the things that allow them to live comfortably. We need to transform the way we use resources by changing the way we produce and consume goods and services.
